time for tea.

the day before my birthday i had a few of my closest friends (besides a few of them who were out of town) over for a tea party. every birthday girl deserves to throw themselves a tea party right?

*paisley wanted in on the pictures but refused to smile for some of them. such a stinker!
the couple weeks leading up to my tea party were spent slaving over my invites and decorations, specifically this backdrop. i ended up being so pleased and happy with how it all turned out.
we served fruit skewers, broccoli salad, little "finger" chicken salad sandwiches, thai chicken coconut soup in mini ramekins, and last - but certainly not least - peach tea.
for dessert we served bundtinis from nothing bundt cakes (equivalent to bite sized bundt cakes. everything needed to be miniature of course because it was a tea party after all)
we lucked out with the weather (for the most part) it had been a pretty windy weekend but luckily the wind didn't start until dinner was over. since the wind was picking up we moved the party inside so we could light the candles on the "cake" my tea party was the perfect start to my birthday celebrations.

here are some pictures from my actual birthday, it was such an awesome day.
my cute friends who met me for manis and pedis. couldn't decide if black and white or color was cuter, so i went with both.
my bff & i. these pictures explain our friendship/relationship all to well.

i got so spoiled! i got the cutest new new balance shoes (found at j crew) new alex and ani's, new dresses, the cutest purple salt water sandals, quest bars and ice drinks (some of my faves) ect. after presents (paisley is the best present helper, by the way) and cake and ice cream paisley asked if i wanted to watch harry potter with her - heck yes i did! after harry potter and cuddling my babies my friends & i went to play some late night tennis. i've said it before and i'll say it again; i've got some amazing people in my life who sure know how to make me feel special.
cake as pink as my hair of course.
(these last two pictures are the lowest quality photos ever. i wasn't even going to attempt to edit these haha)
read a little more about my birthday in my last post which you can find here.

sunday at granny birds.

my sweet "granny bird" lives up in farmington utah, my family constantly finds ourselves thinking that we really don't visit her often enough. this past sunday morning my mom prepared a dinner for us to take up to my grandma's house, after church we headed up to my sweet grandma's home. as soon as we arrived we popped our prepared dinner in her oven and looked through the old pictures she had brought out. i don't know why my grandma hadn't ever gotten her pictures out before, but they were so fun to look at! i loved hearing her tell her stories as we looked through all her photos.

sweet maycie sleeping on the ride up.
the hospital in australia where my grandmother was born. the hospital is still standing til this day (my grandama turns 90 in august!)
my grandmothers parents.
my grandmas only brother, ian. he use to go out and sail and would come back every few years to visit he sisters, was kidnapped by pirates and never returned. my grandma first told me this story when i was about 8 and i'll admit..... i laughed. for some reason the idea of getting kidnapped by pirates humored me.
my grandma's older sister who died as a baby from polio. she was never baptized and my great grandma was so torn up with the thought of her perfect baby going to hell, when my great grandma met the mormon missionaries she was overwhelmed with peace knowing that she'd get to be with her child again. boom. conversion.
my grandma out on a picnic with a mormon missionary who was serving in her ward. oh how times have changed! could you even imagine a missionary taking a girl out on a picnic in today's world? haha.
my grandma's family. complete with her dog sandy mcnab.

after dinner my family went for a walk to the park near my grandma's house. i played PIG with the boys. eventually my dad ditched us and lexi joined us; we switched from pig to a game of 2 on 2. me and tyler dominated.
it just so happened to also be national siblings day; how appropriate!
sure love this sweet granny bird of mine. she makes life happier!
